Visitor Visa

Brief Overview

A visitor visa, also known as a temporary resident visa, is an official document placed in your passport to confirm that you meet the entry requirements for Canada. It is required for most travelers visiting Canada and may be necessary even if you're transiting through a Canadian airport on your journey to your ultimate destination.

Most visitors can stay for up to 6 months in Canada.

Eligibility

To obtain a visitor visa, you need to meet certain basic requirements. These include:

1. Possessing a valid travel document, such as a passport.

2. Being in good health.

3. Having no criminal or immigration-related convictions.

4. Demonstrating to an immigration officer that you have ties, such as employment, residence, financial assets, or family connections, that will ensure your return to your home country.

5. Convincing an immigration officer that you will depart from Canada after your visit.

6. Having sufficient funds for your stay. The required amount depends on the duration of your stay and whether you will be staying in a hotel, with friends, or with relatives.

7. Depending on your circumstances, you might also need to undergo a medical examination and obtain a letter of invitation from a Canadian resident.
