The Canada Government has recently hinted to release a new immigration stream for workers in Canada with TEER 4 & 5 occupations. Official information provided by the Canada government up to this point is limited. However, it is clear that the federal government is working on amendments to introduce a new permanent residency pathway for economic immigrants with Canadian work experience in occupations (TEER) 4 and 5, which are generally regarded as semi-skilled.
The program is expected to be operated similarly to the Canadian Experience Class program, as it targets foreign workers with Canadian experience. The main goal of these adjustments is to help Canadian businesses solve labor shortages in semi-skilled roles by attracting more in-field workers to fill these positions.
According to IRCC, pre-publish amendments from the federal goverment about the new PR pathway will be released later this fall in the Canada Gazette.
